Action Project: Plastic Recycler
According to the EPA, less than 9% of all plastic in the US is ever recycled. Even if you throw it in the blue recycling bin, it is likely that it will still end up dumped in a landfill. That is why I want to make a way to guarantee that your plastic is recycled, by recycling it yourself. The general idea is to make two machines that will first shred and then melt and extrude post-consumer plastic into molds of any size and shape. I plan to partner with a local Makerspace to find a permanent home for this project in a central location where anybody from the community can use it.
Unfortunately, this project will not pay for itself, which is why I will be partnering with several local businesses to fund the construction of these machines. If you feel inclined to donate to the cause, you can contact me directly via phone at (970) 553-0798 or by email at [email protected], or simply follow the link below for my GoFundMe page.
